By default, new installations of WordPress set the time zone to UTC (UTC+0). This is great if you live in Greenwich, but for most people setting the time zone to the location where the blog posts will be posted ensures readers know when something was posted and accurate records are kept on the blog.
The good news is WordPress makes it super easy to update the time zone settings. Just navigate your way to:
Settings -> General
and you will find the time settings. Here you can set the following:
- Date Format
- Time Format
- Week Starts On
In the Timezone settings, use the drop down menu to select which city you live in or the number of hours away from UTC. Save your changes and all posts will be set with the time they were posted.
Wikipedia maintains a list of time zones by country if you are uncertain which time zone you are in.
